Oral health is multi-faceted; it comprises overall physical, psychological and social contentment. It is a complex interaction of physiological and psychosocial elements. Diabetes mellitus (DM) and periodontal disease (PD) are among the most frequently occurring conditions that substantially affect the global health economy.
My research has focused primarily on the field of periodontal infections and their connection with diabetes mellitus. My recent study has concluded that diabetes mellitus lacks knowledge of the bidirectional association between periodontal disease and diabetes mellitus. In this regard, medical-healthcare professionals and dentists should provide mutual care and should consider every patient as a shared responsibility. Furthermore, oral health should be integrated with routine diabetes care to optimize patients’ quality of care living with DM.
