Research papers and grants

My research activities focus on periodontal surgical treatment and periodontal disease and systemic diseases, especially diabetes mellitus. I have published more than 30 scientific manuscripts in high impact factor journals. I review research papers for several scientific journals..

At present, I am running a community-based project. The research will minimize the burden of disease (diabetes) in the health sector by reducing/controlling the glycaemic level of diabetic patients through educating the relationship between oral and diabetic health and vice versa.

My PhD projects included surgical and peri-implant outcomes of ceramic implant vs titanium implants supporting overdentures. This project involved a randomized-controlled clinical trial, microbial analysis of biofilm around implants, an animal and a cadaveric project. I placed over 200 titanium and zirconia implants for the rehabilitation of completely edentulous patients. 

I completed my speciality in periodontology from the School of Dentistry and Oral Health, Griffith University in 2020. At present, I am working as a specialist periodontist in private practice.
